Departed Erie about 9 after a 3 mile diversion for breakfast. It was a good though, eggs, sausage, hash browns and pancakes. Any one of these would have sufficed when I was strapped to my desk.
The ride today was fairly unremarkable. Generally I was on a two lane road with about a 4 ft shoulder, typically without any rumble strip separation. The riding was a bit sketchy, especially when the semis passed. You have seen many pics of similar roads.
An adverse northerly, cross headwind, persisted in the morning but abated in the afternoon. Temps high 70s.
Views of Lake Erie were far and few between, generally obscured by houses and trees. After about 25 miles the sign below appeared.
At about 3, I stopped in Dunkirk for lunch, breakfast had finally worn off. Nancy and I used to regularly split a pint of B&J, more recently we would split 1/2 a pint. This one didn’t stand a chance, I devoured it!
By the numbers:

Perk Sounds like a good Day! The Swiss Army Knife is good for Ice Cream. The French Army Knife only has a corkscrew. Cheers MaGoo
ReplyDeleteCongrats you are in NY. Hope today’s ride is good. Looking forward to seeing you.
ReplyDelete"Ride & Eat" might sum it up sometimes. Just say you are on a "see food" diet: if you see it, you eat it.
ReplyDeleteYou will have to look sometime at how many pictures of Lake Eire you really took. I took a lot, finding that there was always another wonderful perspective that I just couldn't resist. I loved riding along the lakes, both Michigan and Eire.
So finally New York! That's great. Enjoy it, you will be there quite awhile. I hope it offers a lot of quiet level roads, well, at least quiet. Sounds like today you had a mixed lot: semis and traffic, but a wide shoulder.
Temps here are about the same, which is better than 80's and humid. You are maybe off soybeans and corn and into vineyards and fruit stands. Not a bad tradeoff. Hope you get a hotel with a nice bed tonight. Tell B&J they don't stand a chance if you see a pint. Good riding tomorrow and on into NY.
Nice Wa.
ReplyDeleteYour tent looks homey.
Good job
