Day 31 Minneapolis to Glenwood City

 A FRIEND TO RIDE WITH!!

Vai arrived this morning. Vai is Alee (my daughter) boyfriend. He is a Univ of Minnesota grad, masters in Electrical engineering. Having someone to ride with is great.

We left the hotel around 10:30 and were on bike trails/lanes the whole way to Stillwater on the St. Croix River.  I am very impressed with the bike trail network in Minn!

Nice lunch in Stillwater, we crossed the river, on a converted rails to trails bridge, into Wisconsin!

After lunch we came across a lake, I jumped in.

Shortly after we had some navigational issues, road closure and later a required detour as RidewithGPS tried to route us through the woods and on private property. We finally ended up on the road which was mostly paved but not always.

Classic country side - corn, soybeans and dairy.

We are now at Olde Friends B&B outside of Glenwood City.  Oh yea, more straight, empty roads.

By the numbers:
Dist  - 61.5 miles
Elev Gain - 2,271 ft
Elev Loss - 1,986 ft
Moving time 5:15

  2. Wa + VaiDogg! Lookin' good guys! Happy to see you together in BadgerLand. If your trek takes you through Madison, have some ice cream at the Union and/or eat at the Rathskeller (also in the Union). There used to be a very cool Crane Foundation in Baraboo ... worth a stop.
Not sure you are doing that kind of thing.
ENJOY. Miss you. xo Your fav sister-in-law
(PS- Spoke to Moots on her big day! She sounds fantastic!!!)

  7. You cleared MPLS -- great! Straight, empty and flat roads are a blessing. Nancy and I went to college at Macalester, which is near UM and Dinkytown. I have been there in various visits to the city over the years.

Yes, it is nice to have someone to ride with. By the way, I think it is the St. Croix River. We crossed it farther north and had a layover there. We took a paddleboat cruise on the St. Croix. Eat all the frozen custard you can. I hope you had good riding today ...eg
