BIKE TRAILS AND LAKE WOBEGON
Got a bit of a late start, the hotel bed & pillows were calling, but finally found my way out and was greeted with the bike trail below.
That scene was a nice way to start the day.
Soon the trail vistas opened up and there were some pretty sites.
I struck up conversations with some local bikers going my direction for a bit, listened to some Spotify and generally had a pleasant start to the day. The signs below appeared, just before St. Cloud, with about a mile in between them. Where is Lake Wobegon?
I cannot let this opportunity pass without including one more link, “The news from Lake Wobegon”. For those that are not familiar sit back, take a 20 minute break from your busy lives and let the imagination take over.

The bike trail ended in St Cloud so I was back on roads for awhile. Eventually I picked up a combo of bike trails and easy roads to Monticello, where the Mississippi appeared! Got my feet wet but didn’t swim.
By the numbers:
Dist - 52.9 Miles
Elev gain - 864 Ft
Elev Loss - 1,078 Ft
Moving time 4:33
Crossing the Mississippi River at just about your mileage halfway mark. Cool and congrats. I like your pic at the River
ReplyDeleteUsed to love listening to those shows.
ReplyDeleteWally playing down his pontoon boat reminded me of this Ezra Klein podcast (you'll see the link, and maybe others, about halfway through).

Woohoo, finally I get to see your face again! Glad you had a good day. Will miss you next week when 2/4 of your clan joins us on the Cape. Also my mom wants me to tell you that she called Moots today to wish her a happy birthday. Love, Your Favorite Niece
ReplyDeleteSeems like a nice day: beautiful scenery, a bike trail and fewer miles. At this point I guess you will be trending south to Mpls. We went straight through St Cloud to St. Croix Falls, WI, where we had a layover before heading north to the UP. MN is beautiful in the summer. I am glad you are enjoying it... sometimes on a shorter day, a later start helps regenerate the batteries. Happy riding to Minneapolis ....eg
