ANOTHER SCORCHER! 103 max temp.
Left Yakima (Wyndam Beaumont) on a wonderful bike trail. The trail didn't last long though.
Warren & Paul, being the observant folk we are, totally missed the new gravel path to the right. Onward, the remaining portion of the path can't be too far ahead. Bad idea!
Cool mural next to the train!
Riding and drinking consumed most of the remainder of the day. We each drank about 5 liters of water and "go" juice. Still the heat was oppressive. Fortunately we mostly had a tail wind. Nice views appeared as we neared our destination, Kennewick.
Finally pulled into the hotel, Clover Island Inn, about 7PM - exhausted. Dinner, blog, bed.
By the numbers:
Dist - 91.6 miles
Elev Gain - 1,500 ft
Elev Loss - 2,094 ft
Moving time - 6:55
Good job Warren! Three big mileage days (and elevation) under your belt. I'm betting on 100 flat tires before you are done - please keep track. Nancy
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys made it. When problems arise, it's great to have a friend with you. I'm glad you did and that you at least had a tail wind. Ride early and well ... eg
ReplyDeleteDespite the heat, and the excitement of seeing all my colleagues at our "onsite" retreat, I wish I were still riding with you guys! BTW Warren, I'd noticed you're running the same Marathon Supremes that I ran on my cross country tandem ride. We only had one flat in 3,453 miles so hopefully you'll share that luck!
