DAY 3 Snoqualmie Pass - Yakima, WA

 HOT!!!!   103 degrees.

Early start 6:30 AM

Iron Horse / Palouse to Cascades Trail to Cle Elum, 30 miles.  Cle Elum Bakery - highly recommended!

Rt 10 to Ellensburg.  Starbucks, ice and fluids.

A beautiful, hot ride through the Yakima Gorge - with a much needed swim at a campground. Steam erupted from the river as we walked in.

Met a nice young couple (30 +/-) outside of Cle Elum.  They have recently reached financial independence and retired early (FIRE).  They downsized and are now living on their bike touring & camping.  They are hoping to hike the Pacific Crest Trail this summer,  then bike to Nicaragua from Seattle later in fall.  A nomadic life!

Last 10 miles on a nice bike trail along the river.  Arrived Yakima hotel at 6:30.

John Carpenter joined us from the summit to near Selah.  Emily met him and they turned for Seattle, work calls.

  2. Heat and cooling water. A good combo ! Mini heat wave here in the great Pacific Northwest but would you want it any other way??!! Have a great ride tomorrow.
