Introduction

RIDE WITH WA

SEATTLE, WA TO BROWNS COVE, MAINE

DEPART JUNE 1, 2021

WHY DO THIS RIDE - I have wanted to do this ride since high school but time and opportunity never quite aligned. Now is the time.  I have been asked by a few if this ride is to be a fundraiser.   I did not want support a political cause, this country is to divided and whether I chose a left or right cause, the other half would be non-supportive.  I did not want to fund raise for a big outfit, any dollars raised would be a rounding error to their budget. After much thought I decided to support a local food bank.
Why fund raise for Granite Falls Food Bank

I recently retired from Gray & Osborne Engineers.  For 25 years I was the client contact/city engineer for Granite Falls.  During this period, I learned much from the staff and citizens of Granite Falls.  One of my “takeaways” is that the citizens and staff of the City help and support each other in innumerable ways.  I would like to contribute to that support, and give back to Granite Falls.  The Food Bank is well run and provides a critical need to Granite Falls and the surrounding community.  Over the years I have heard only laudatory comments regarding the food bank, at City Council meetings and from the residents of Granite Falls.  Thus, I chose to help support the Food Bank with this fundraiser.

Thanks for your support.

Warren Perkins

The Granite Falls Food Bank is an integral part of our social services in town. Not only does it serve residents within the city limits, but it is also available to many others in the outlying area. Serving hundreds of people per week, the GFFB is vital to keeping many struggling families afloat. Many of these families have working parents who, with minimum wage paying jobs, cannot afford many of the basic necessities we all need for survival.

As City Engineer, Warren Perkins was a mainstay in our community for over 25 years. He provided countless hours of dedicated service to our town, and was vital to our growth and development. I commend his bicycle ride fundraiser, and encourage everyone to give generously.

Thank you,
Matthew Hartman
Mayor, City of Granite Falls
